A conversation with Marlon Wallen...

Tell us a bit about yourself…

I’m an Artist, Dancer, Choreographer, and entrepreneur born and raised in London who has been making footprints in the dance world for over 19+ years!

In addition to helping some of the biggest names in the industry, I am also the founder of the Flawless, always working on the next big project, traveling the world, and inspiring people of all ages to love the way they move.

Dancing was always just a hobby from the age of 4, but it wasn’t my first choice as I was very much into sports (Basketball). My years of school shaped me to become a dancer as I was always known for getting involved in all the talent shows etc.

Flawless organically developed during my studies through school/college. Every member was handed picked for their mentality rather than their ability and that’s what shaped the team to become who they are today!

What have you been up to since MOVE IT 2023?

Since MOVE IT 2023 Flawless have been nonstop with performances, teaching, judging, and Mentoring internationally. Visiting places like Dubai, Spain, Denmark, Romania, Ireland, Scotland and more.

Tell us about your experience at MOVE IT 2023…

Our experience at MOVE IT 2023 was overwhelming in a great way as it’s always amazing to see what other dance organisations are up to and to connect with everyone throughout the weekend.
All our Masterclasses were sold out. Both our Nxt Gen & Flawless Dance Hub did us proud on the main stage and our stand was always busy which is always a good thing.

What advice would you give to people wanting to become successful in the dance industry?

I would say to succeed in the dance industry you need to focus on honing your skills, staying disciplined, networking, and continuously seeking opportunities to learn and perform. Always remember, dedication and perseverance are key in this competitive field. Chase the dream, not the competition!

What has been your favourite moment of the year so far?

One of my favourite moments this year is to be travelling and performing with the Flawless boys to work with
French Montana in Marbella.

What have you got planned for the next year?
Next year Flawless will be celebrating 20 years in style so it will be a very exciting year filled with special performances showcasing the group’s best routines over the years and lots more!!!

This year is the celebration of 50 years of Hip Hop, what has Hip Hop done for you?
It’s been my whole life through the music, the culture, the opportunities, freedom of self-expression. It’s given me artistic and personal growth.

Describe the Hip Hop industry and style in 3 words…
Innovative, dynamic and influential.

Would you recommend MOVE IT to people wanting to have a career in dance?
Yes, I will always recommend MOVE IT to people wanting a career in dance as it’s one of the best annual events the dance world has to offer!
