Introducing the Creative Advisory Board members! The Creative Advisory Board is a group of creative, diverse, passionate individuals who will shape, inform and influence MOVE IT’s planning, programme, and offers to our audiences. 

From early career to established artists the members of the Creative Advisory Board will come together to share their ideas, skills, and experiences to advise and be a critical friend across MOVE IT and our future.

MARLON WALLEN

As the Creative Ambassador for MOVE IT 2024, Marlon is deeply rooted in the commercial dance scene. With numerous years of knowledge and hands-on experience in touring and the dynamic hip-hop sector, he advocates for informal training and guides aspiring dancers on the path to establishing a thriving business and career in the dance industry.

Stacey is the Co-Founder of the TIRED Movement (Trying to Improve Racial Equality in the Dance Industry). She is also the Principal of Freedom Dance & Performance in Nottingham. With nearly 30 years of experience working within the performing arts industry teaching children and young people, she has the passion and drive to improve equity and inclusion within dance education and works extensively in partnership with some of the leading performing arts colleges across the country

Philip Joel is an award-winning choreographer specialising in Theatre & TV: Credits include: ‘CLOSER TO HEAVEN’ , The Pet Shop Boys musical Union Theatre, London. ‘Miracle on 34th Street’ UK Tour & Madinat, Dubai. ‘ROCK CITY’ for Celebrity Cruises. ‘One Man Two Guvnors.’ His work can also be seen across BBC, ITV, Channel 4, as well as major TV & magazine commercials. He is also the Whatsonstage award angel winner in 2021.

Terry started dancing at age 6, joining the Royal Ballet then on to London’s Festival Ballet (now ENB) as a soloist and to West End musicals, Film, and TV. Terry attained an MA in Psychotherapy, validated by Middlesex Uni in 2012, and in 2017 set up www.counsellingfordancers.com, specifically to address the mental health needs of dancers and in 2021 he created the Help4Dancers app. Terry understands the mental health needs of dancers and uses that in his one-to-one therapy sessions, in his proactive Mental Health Self-Care Workshops, and in dealing with performance anxiety.

Elijah Smith is a dancer who has been predominantly trained in the street dance styles. He has worked/trained with multiple groups/companies such as Zoonation: The Kate Prince Company, Boy Blue and Flawless to name a few. He is also a co founder of D’Eli which is a social media brand that blends dance and entertainment to promote the UK Dance Scene. Elijah was also a Face of MOVE IT 2023.

Chris Vasileiadi graduated with a 1st class BA (HONS) in Dance from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) in 2023. They were also recipient of the LIPA Dance Award, as well as their class’s student rep. Currently, based in London, Chris is a full-time freelance artist, exploring all different ways of self-expression through dance, from ballet to voguing. Chris is so excited to be joining the first ever MOVE IT Creative Advisory Board, especially by proudly representing the LGBTQIA+ community!

Lucy Turner is a dancer, choreographer, model, actress, teacher and creative. She has trained in many dance practices, creating her own stylised movement which she attributes to her unique body. Being a disabled dancer with hEDS, she advocates to help improve accessibility, awareness, and understanding for invisible disabilities. She prides herself in creating more room for disabled performers in the industry through accessible-friendly creativity classes, which she has been teaching at MOVE IT since 2022. Lucy has grown up with MOVE IT inspiring her at every step, and now, Lucy is excited to grow with it.

Hadija is 19 years old and a full-time student currently at De Montfort University studying for a Dance Degree. She works for the fabulous ACE Dance and Music as well as a part-time Cheerleader for Birmingham Rockets Basketball. She loves the concept of dance and how it allows her to escape from the reality of every day. Her overall favourite style is Ballroom and Latin dance where she embodies an alter ego that can be as expressive as ever when she is dancing. However, Hadija is always wanting to learn other styles to add to her dance palette.

Jasmine is a dancer currently training at Performers College Birmingham after training for two years at CAPA College. She is also a One Dance UK Dance Ambassador and young creative alumni.
