GET TO KNOW BLAKE...

What are you most looking forward to as a Headliner of MOVE IT 2024?

This is my very first time at MOVE IT! I’m super excited to be a part of the headlining faculty this year and I’m really looking forward to connecting with more dancers and creatives from all over the UK.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt in your career so far?

This would be impossible to narrow down to one thing! As a creative especially, I’m learning a lot about the importance of not always needing to be visible/active and embracing the rhythm of ebb and flow.

Do you have any advice for young aspiring dancers who want to get into the professional dance world?

Take your time! Living in the digital age of social media can feel like a race at times but it’s so important to celebrate the uniqueness of your journey and trust the timing of your life.

What does dancing mean to you?

Dance + Movement is an outlet for me. A mind-body connection and form of communication that allows me to create and mould my own identity, especially when I’m creating/choreographing.

Are there any influences on your style of dance?

Pop Culture forever!

What do you think is the biggest challenge that you face as a dancer?

I suppose one of the biggest challenges is navigating the uncertainty and inconsistency of this industry, however it is not necessarily all negative because these periods simultaneously allow space for more of what we’re asking for. Shifting our perspective can change our experience!

What do you think are the most important qualities for success in the dance industry?

 Kindness, curiosity & work ethic.
