MOVE IT is excited to announce

its brand-new series ‘Spotlight On’ which will be starting this month!

The series will feature a stream of free content shining the ‘Spotlight On’ past Faces of MOVE IT each month through live classes and talks via our Instagram.

This is your chance to train and talk with the upcoming stars in the dance world!

Continuing our ‘Spotlight On’ series in April is the incredible Sophia Mackayart who will be leading a Contemporary Fusion dance class on the 17th April at 1:30pm via our Instagram.

About Sophia: 

After studying Musical Theatre and graduating from WAC Arts, Sophia’s theatre credits include; Current Leading lady in Thriller Live, The Grinning Man, Bubbly Black Girl who Sheds her Chameleon Skin , Playboy of the West Indies, Dirty Dancing International Tour and so much more! She was commissioned to run independent soca dance classes and rediscovered her love for dance and the arts. It was then she decided to return to Barbados where she was inspired by volunteering at her first arts school to merge Wellness with Caribbean dance and returned to London with a vision to grow a movement around Caribbean Mindfulness and movement. Sophia is now the CEO and founder of Zaiah Arts, a Caribbean health and wellness brand.

Class Description:

CARNIVALVIBES! is set to the electric beat of their live Dj (NassenUK) playing the best Caribbean Soca, and Dancehall and features HIIT warmups, hip-swaying choreography and their very own WAISTLINE DRILLS!

The class challenges you to embody the high energy, syncopated movement of Soca with the bold grooves of dancehall and then takes you on a journey into some traditional Caribbean Folk.

They interweave confidence-building exercises into the class to get you to embrace your BODY and the way YOU MOVE whilst of course enjoying the atmosphere of carnival in a studio or online! This class offers feels good fun that hardly anyone can resist!

If you want to join this class, tune in on the 17th April at 1:30pm via our Instagram. If you can’t make it the good news is, we will be saving the class to our Instagram TV for you to enjoy at a later date.
