World Record Umbrella Dance - Sunday 2nd May, Bath, UK

In the spirit of supporting all things dance, MOVE IT would like to invite you to join a Southwest dance event, the World’s Largest Ever Umbrella Dance, set to be performed to a specially adapted version of Singing in the Rain in the centre of World Heritage city, Bath around Laura Place, at the top of the World famous Great Pulteney Street on Sunday 2nd May. The world’s media will be gathering in force as well as an official from Guinness World Records to give an instant declaration.

The special dance, to last just over five minutes in order to set the record, has been professionally choreographed to suit anyone aged five and over, and must include an umbrella in order to set the record at 12 noon on Sunday 2nd May. Being an umbrella dance, its intelligent choice of props makes it weather resistant!

Director James Whitehead added, “This wonderfully creative record attempt symbolises our ethos to encourage participation in dance and we’re really grateful to MOVE IT for their support – not only does dance keep you fit and active, but it also encourages a fun, social vibrancy in bringing people together. Being a World Record holder would be a fantastic achievement for anyone, and something truly special to be involved in. We’re very excited to see the huge final performance and feel confident they’ll be bringing this fantastic Record to the UK soon.”

All of the information for taking part is available here. It is free to take part but you must register in advance to receive an entry number. There is a simple video on-line to watch and learn the basic steps.
