FASHION FORECAST: Dance ‘must have’ products for 2012
The New Year brings a raft of new dance products dance dancewear to help you stand out from the crowd. Dancers have always pioneered new looks before the general public, and as more and more high street brands try and emulate the dancer look, Georgina Harper, Creative Director of MOVE IT 2012 takes a look at what dancers will be wearing in 2012...
Bloch’s Wave Sneaker
Available in a range of colours, we love this rainbow colour-way, perfectly in line with the optimistic pop colour palette as seen in the 2012 spring collections of designers like Henry Holland and Christopher Kane. Now for the technical bit – the Wave sneaker has a split sole with enhanced arch support and features a TPU spin spot ideal for turning and retaining contact with the floor. Retail price £33.95.
Mava Lou’s ‘Calvi’ dance pants
Ethereal and unique, these ‘Calvi’ dance pants are available in a range of limited edition colours and long length or the ‘midi’ length shown here. Extra wide and with a "wing" worked into the different layers, they unfurl beautifully as you move and we love the cloudy print pictured here. They retail at £119, but we think they are an investment purchase and to ease the impact on the wallet, we hear rumours they will be available with a 10% discount at the Mava Lou stand at MOVE IT 2012.

d. inc. wear is a brand new dancewear range from Dancers Inc, featuring cutting edge dance staples for men and women. We love this grey sleeveless hoodie with a kangaroo pocket. The fabric includes angora, so it’s extra soft and there is a version for men and women. Retail price £35.
Pineapple Mid Script Top
The Pineapple off-the-shoulder top is something of a modern classic and worn by dancers as wells many a non-dancer chasing the elusive dancer-style. The cut-off neckline is slouchy and relaxed and you can bring it bang up-to-date by accessorising with armloads of colourful bracelets and ideal for dancers of all styles to customise and make their own. Microfibre Camisole by Plume at Dancedirect
This lace backed camisole leotard is a great twist on the traditional ballet look and is a versatile ‘must have’ for every dancer. It has a shelf bra lining and also comes in black. There is also a plain mesh version that comes in hot pink for extra edge, but this pretty white lace version gets our vote. It retails at £19.95 from Dancedirect.
